How does Sun Country Builders so reliably carry out one-day rehabs of multiple kitchens and baths, and five-day gut rehabs of multiple apartment units? How does Sun Country so reliably control quality, cost, and production on new-construction multi-family projects?
The answer is a core group of long-term employees who bring to our projects a sense of pride, urgency, and commitment to quality. Those employees are part of The Sun Country Advantage, which we put to work for the benefit of our clients.
Occasionally, prospective clients have expressed doubt about our ability to perform rehabilitation work on such a tight schedules, but we’re pleased – knock wood – to say that we have never missed a rehab schedule cycle yet.
On rehab projects, Sun Country’s in-house team often carries out demolition, rough and finish carpentry, drywall, concrete, masonry, painting, stucco repair, and other trades. We bring in our key specialty subs to help out with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and a few other specialty trades but the Sun Country team works seamlessly with them, buttoning units back up and turning them over on time, every time.
Starting a new construction project out on the right foot with the “first in” trades sets the tone for the entire project. Sun Country often performs key trades in-house, including foundation work, masonry and framing. Additionally, we perform site concrete, finish grading, and several general labor trades.
Our concrete, masonry and labor teams are led by Gerry Prado (shown right, top) , who has spent the last 14 years as part of the Sun Country family. A talented personnel manager, with wide-ranging experience in the concrete and masonry trades, Gerry is also skilled in many other areas of construction. A truly remarkable trait is his ability to train unskilled employees, advancing them to the level of accomplished tradesmen.
The result is a staff of dedicated, long-term employees uncommon to our industry. A North County resident, Gerry has three children, the youngest of which will soon earn her college degree.
Our carpentry team is led by Saul Duarte (shown right, bottom). Saul joined Sun Country in 2002 to take over for a framing subcontractor who failed to perform. Despite having to step in mid-stream, Saul saw the framing project through to successful completion and has been with us ever since. Saul grew up and resides in South County and has three children, ages 4, 8, and 10.
In his spare time, Saul enjoys off-road racing and is a founding member of the Lighthouse Foundation which works with the needy, and which has built two community service centers in Mexico.
Three decades of multi-family experience, a demonstrated commitment to the success of our clients, and skilled and talented employees – all are part of the Sun Country Advantage.
