Community HousingWorks has worked with Sun Country Builders on numerous new construction and major renovation developments over the last 15 years. We have done repeat business with SCB due to their quality construction, client focused staff, and attentiveness to consistently meeting schedules and budget.
I strongly suggest that an early partnership with Sun Country Builders as the general contractor throughout the design process is a valuable choice, and in my experience has resulted in superior projects completing on time and on budget.
Nothing but great things to say about them. Honest. Meticulous. Responsible. Great product. Good partners.
It was a pleasure for AMCAL to partner with your company for the renovation of the Hillcrest Apartments into a new affordable housing community in Victorville. Thanks to you, we met our construction schedule, and met all the City’s and County’s goals when they entrusted us with a large allocation of their valuable NSP funding. This was AMCAL’s first partnership with a third-party general contractor, and you alleviated any concerns we may have had about assigning construction work to a third-party general contractor. Thank you for your diligent work and fine finished product.
Sun Country’s vast experience with affordable housing finance, including Prevailing Wage requirements, made the process much more fluid and enjoyable. From pre-bid to project close-out Sun Country was always professional, performed their work with integrity and brought high quality, solution-oriented ideas when challenges arose. It was refreshing to work with a team that provided excellent communication, clear and consistent documentation and a willingness to ‘go the extra mile’ without fanfare or persuasion. A very clean process in a complex project.
Sun Country truly brought a level of integrity and commitment to the client that is rare in our industry. It was a pleasure working with them and I, without hesitation, would recommend Sun Country Builders for your next project.
During the preconstruction/budget phase of the project, the members of the SCB team took it upon themselves to develop an in-depth understanding of the project. They anticipated problems, and offered comprehensive value engineering and alternatives, without compromising quality. They identified issues in the plans early in the course of events, and creatively and cost-effectively addressed them. Their preliminary budget proved to be accurate, demonstrating the thoroughness of their plan analysis and take-off. Sun Country met, and beat, a challenging, accelerated, fast-track schedule, the result of a delayed permitting process, and a tax credit deadline. Their understanding of tax credit financing requirements made them a motivated member of our team.
Sun Country’s staff was knowledgeable and professional. Problems were addressed efficiently, effectively, and with a ‘can-do’ attitude, Prevailing Wages were managed effortlessly and transparently, and communications and documentation were clear, predictable, and unusually good. It was good to know that they were aggressively looking out for our interests.
Over the years I have worked with several general contractors. Not one has performed with the skill, quality and professionalism of Sun Country Builders. Brookview was a complicated development to construct. Sun Country Builders did a masterful job, one of which you can be very proud. Strangely enough, I’m somewhat saddened that the building stage is complete. That’s how much I enjoyed it, thanks to you and your team.
Sun Country’s ability to become a team member from estimating to design to construction through handling the keys to KDF Communities is unsurpassed.
They really cared about our project and it showed in everything they did, every step of the way.
Sun Country Builders is a contractor I know can be relied upon – they will always be fair and honest, and the quality of their work is excellent. They know the challenges and deadlines we have on construction projects, and know that being on time and on budget is extremely important. I’ve been recommending them to developers for years.
I’m not used to sitting around with my GC enjoying a glass of wine to celebrate the end of a project. Usually I need to take a six month break from the GC when a project is over, but this experience was different.
